Set Goals: The first step is to sit down with the client and discuss goals, target audience as well as the clients desires for their web site. Whether it be simply a functional web site or a multimedia entertainment experience, it is good to have a clear direction from the outset of the project.
Gather Content: After setting goals, we gather the content the client would like to present on the web. Whether it be static information, multimedia, or data, having as much of this information in the beginning helps to build the model of the client's web site.
Navigational Model / Site Architecture: The next step is to design a layout and navigational model of the site to see how the site should flow.
Review Navigational Model / Site Architecture: Once the layout and navigational model are complete, we sit down with the client to review the flow of the site to make sure it is meeting the goals and desires we initially discussed.
Initial Layout Design: Based on the clients goals, audience, desires and using the navigational model and architecture we created, the next step is to design a layout of the clients web site using the most effective techniques and technologies the web has to offer to achieve the desired result.
Review Layout Design: Once the initial layout design is completed, it's time to sit down and review the layout with the client and work together to come up with ideas to further meet the clients goals and desires.
Graphical User Interface Design (GUI): Finally, the client is presented with several design ideas that will best represent them and help to further achieve their goals while creating a "brand" for them on the web. Whether the design is based on an existing company brand or we help the client create a new identity, A Chapman Design will work with other graphic designers so that the clients company or organization will meet its goals.
Repeat and Modify: The DESIGN, and REVIEW process may take only a few go around's before the desired goal is achieved or it may go back in forth many times. As the site begins to take shape, goals, desires and content may change which could change the flow of the site. It is important to look at the direction and work with the client to achieve a final result with which everyone is happy.
Page / Application Build and Site Population: Finally the site is built out using designs, technologies and techniques decided on during the development process and the site is populated either with static or dynamic data. A Chapman Design will work with the best database and web application developers to help achieve your sites technological goals.
Launch: Once the site has been reviewed and tested, the next stage would be to launch the web site and point the client in the best direction for promoting their new site.
Promote: A web site is only good if potential customers or clients can find it on the web. A Chapman Design can help you optimize your site for search engines and helping you build a directory of link partners so that you'll rank highly on search engines.
Maintain: After launch ACD will work with the client to maintain the site, whether through a monthly contract with ACD to maintain the site or one to several training sessions so that the client can maintain their new site themselves.
